The Melbourne & Olympic Parks precinct is steeped in sporting history.
Well before the 1956 Olympics put the area on the world sporting map, the precinct played host to a wide variety of elite and grassroots level sport dating back to the 19th Century.
In more recent times, the 2006 Commonwealth Games and the 2007 FINA World Swimming Championships reinforced the precinct’s presence on the international stage, and since 1988 the Australian Open has grown to become Australia's biggest sporting event.
Now, with AAMI Park becoming the home for football and the rugby codes, Melbourne & Olympic Parks has become the world sporting capital's fulcrum for sport.
In conjunction with AAMI Park, the Gosch's Paddock training fields have also been upgraded to service the likes of Collingwood and Melbourne AFL clubs, Melbourne Storm rugby club and Melbourne Victory soccer club. |
