Alkira Alkira is a community based not-for-profit organisation that strives to meet the needs and wishes of people with intellectual disabilities, through care and support, to enrich and challenge them to be part of the world community. Alkira was established in 1954 by a small group of parents and today provides services to over 150 people and support to their families. In addition to providing a rich range of activities and training across several Day Service centres, Alkira has also established a number of residential facilities: these include respite accommodation as well as a unit dedicated to the needs of seniors and people with early onset dementia. |

Melbourne Citymission Melbourne Citymission has been working across Melbourne and Victoria for over 157 years and today is an organisation of over 70 different programs and services, supporting some of Melbourne and Victoria’s most vulnerable individuals, families and communities. Every week, they help thousands of people escape and avoid disadvantage, economic exclusion and social isolation .Today Melbourne Citymission has an enormous depth and breadth of programs across the state of Victoria. It runs: 5 statewide programs, social enterprises, crisis accommodation services, a foyer youth program, a nursing home and hostel, independent living units for the elderly, a childcare centre, residential services for people living with a disability and palliative care services. Melbourne Citymission helps people find their own path to independence, providing them with the support they need along the way. |
